This is my third attempt, it has taken me 5 years to write the first chapter. Given I have lost all energy, any hope that the future will not follow the past, and any faith in humanity that the majority of people want peace it may well never progress further.

- I went from a complete UN detractor to perhaps one of its greatest admirers, because despite all it's failings it is perhaps the only hope for a future for our children and grandchildren.
- I also believe it is time we seriously reviewed our political decision-making process to ensure honesty, integrity, and openness. Abolition of the antiquated principle of Cabinet Solidarity that ensures every member of a Government must have acquired the skill of looking into a camera and lying so convincingly they appear to be sincere.
This facade that starts at the top also helps the Minister ensure that the information they receive from their departments is what they want to hear - not what they need to know.
Similarly, any reviews of the impact of those decisions are based on the same principle.
The facts on which decisions are made are inherently flawed and unreliable. Fortunately, we haven't yet resorted to waterboarding our informants to get the answers we want; even if we do end up, following the decisions made by others who have.
